DUMBO GETS MAD
Dumbo Gets Mad is the psych-rock project from Italian duo Luca Massaro and Carlotta Menozzi. The project started out when Massaro & Menozzi relocated to Los Angeles in 2010. Their debut album, Elephants at the Door, has received numerous positive reviews and reached over 100k digital downloads.
Soon after forming, the duo was joined, live, by two additional members: Andrea Scarfone (bass)—also a member of Italy's acclaimed rock-band Julie's Haircut—and Lorenzo Rotteglia (drums) and performed in different venues and festivals around Italy; including Circolo degli Artisti in Rome and MI AMI festival in Milan. In 2012, they opened Neon Indian's concert in Padua at Summer Student Festival and played at Find Out Festival in Marseille with Bleached and The Black Lips.
On February 6th, 2013, the duo released their 2nd LP, Quantum Leap.
The band soon followed up with their third full-length, Thank You Neil (Bad Panda Ghost Records) in late-2015—an album that Stereogum described as containing “a sense of galactic wonder in the folds of [it’s] charming funk tunes...”
More recently, in 2019, the band released two digital singles—”Makes You Fly” and “Voodoo on Gold” (Nice Guy Records)—and contributed music to the Versace Jeans Couture 2019 ad campaign.
Sea Moya is a German electronic Psychedelia band blending influences of Afro-Beat,
Krautrock with 70s psychedelic sounds and contemporary electronic music. Passing their
ideas through a chaotic system of wires, various instruments, effect pedals and analog
recording gear into the computer, where it all gets mangled, sliced up and put back
together again, it still sounds human.
After their first two EPs „Twins“ (Heist Or Hit Records, 2015) and „The Baltic States“ (Heist
Or Hit Humming Records, 2016) Sea Moya released their first LP „Falmenta“ via Golden
Brown Records (USA) and Majestic Casual Records (ROW). Recorded in a reclusive cabin in the Italian Alps, “Falmenta” was a result of total withdrawal from everyday life, the
distraction of technology and any influence from outsiders. But not without a little help
from befriended musicians, like Canadian artist Thanya Iyer.
Taking these songs on the road and summing up more than 200 shows through the US,
Canada and Europe, opening for Durand Jones & The Indications, Foals, !!! (Chk Chk Chk),
Klaus Johann Grobe or Maribou State as well as playing Pop Montreal (CAN), Reeperbahn
Festival (GER), Eurosonic Noorderslag (NL) and SXSW (USA), has shaped and changed both
music and Sea Moya - allowing them to freely evolve into something else live.
If it wasn’t for recent world events, they would have probably never stopped touring. So
imagine their excitement to be able to go out and do it all again. And most importantly
finally share new music.
