INTERNATIONAL STARS BASEBALL - DETROIT ACADEMY

- - - - -

International Stars Baseball (ISB) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to transforming lives through baseball. One of ISB’s initiatives is to provide children in Detroit with opportunities to further their personal development and education through free baseball and softball programming in collaboration with the Boll Family YMCA, Full Count Foundation, and other community partners.

Most of our participants do not have the resources or means to pay the high entry costs of playing baseball year-round. The city currently lacks resources and facilities to keep kids in baseball year-round and our program seeks to rectify this situation through the on-going efforts of our volunteer staff and our partner organizations.

ISB is in the midst of a fundraising campaign, seeking donations to provide our kids in Detroit with free baseball programming, adding batting cages to our home field at Leroy Dues Park, finding an indoor facility for the upcoming Fall and Winter months so kids can continue to have safe and productive after school activities, transportation to get the kids to the practices and games, and security to keep them safe.

ISB’s next step is to build Detroit's first FREE year-round baseball/softball indoor/outdoor facility to give back to the community and the children of Detroit. With the help from donations, we will be able to develop a year-round baseball-training center for boys and girls that currently don't have access or opportunity to participate in baseball or softball, more than once a week. Your donations will go towards the purchase of land, the development of three to four baseball and softball fields (including an inclusive wheelchair accessible field), an outdoor pavilion to host games, a year-round indoor training facility with an academy office and classrooms.

The International Stars Baseball Academy of Detroit will include free, year-round baseball training - including but not limited to - private, group, and team instruction; winter and summer camps/clinics, available to all boys and girls, of all skill levels, ages 5 to 18. The academy will provide a safe environment with free after-school tutoring, mentoring programs, social work services, career development, with an emphasis on character development. We also help provide the platform for high school students to play at the collegiate level through our College Showcase Scholarship Initiative and we also help promote the cultural exchange that baseball can provide by assisting young players to have the experience to play baseball or softball overseas.
